After Several Attempts, The Oakland Athletics Were Able To Defeat The Mariners With A 3 to 1 Score On Tuesday Night
For the very first time this season, the A's can beat the Mariners, which is a big deal for the A's as it almost seems impossible.
Without any doubt, the Oakland A's are the most peculiar team in baseball. The Athletics, coming off a 7-0 dilemma in which they only had the chance to hit four pitches on their way to an inevitable loss, surprisingly defeated the Seattle Mariners 3-1 on Tuesday, limiting their opponent to four hits.
The Seattle Mariners had to scratch their all-star pitchers a few minutes before the start of the game due to some illness, and they also did not have Julio Rodriguez after the four hits he had in Monday's game.
So, the Mariners were all out without their all-time superstars, Julio Rodriguez and George Kirby.
Most fans believe that the defeat happened because right-hander Kirby was taken off his scheduled start due to the flu, which made Luke Weaver take his place, and Rodriguez was out because of the soreness of his left foot.
The first baseman for the Mariners, Ty France, had already left in the third inning with a rupture on his left wrist after Weaver tried to pick off but bounced in and hit France above his glove.
Without any walks or strikeouts, in 3 2/3 innings, Weaver, 2-5, gave room for three runs on seven hits.
The left-hander Ken Waldichuk tried to pitch, but it was not enough to earn the victory. Waldichuk granted one run on one hit in four-plus innings, three strikeouts and five walks. He threw 91 pitches before he was alleviated.
The game took an interesting turn when Seth Brown got the first score, setting Oakland on a 1-0 path, which also seemed to set the pace for the team's unexpected but unique win on Tuesday.
The second score was a bang as Shea Langeliers added another ultimate win to the score, making it 2-0 in just two innings to the game, which started to put an unexpected closure to the matchup.
The Oakland widened the lead in the second as Jordan Diaz leveled a leadoff single right into center, Later out, Langeliers went deep straight to the center, totaling it 3-0.
The Seattle Mariners had already won 12 of the 13 previous games, they spun a 7 1/2-game slippage into a one-game leading over Texas. At the New York Mets, the Rangers won a 2-1 playing against the Mariners at 75-57.
After the leadoff single was grounded into the center by Teoscar Hernandez and Cal Raleigh walked, the Mariners got fourth on the scoreboard.
After the game, the manager for Seattle said, "Stuff happens you know”. “We played a lot of games, and We’ve been on such a hot stretch where everything seems to have gone our way. So it's just normal to have a little rough side on the road."
