Buffalo Bills Quarterback Josh Allen provided an altogether incredible performance on Sunday afternoon for the Bills on Sunday afternoon. The Bills moved to 13-3 in the 2024 season, locking up the No. 2 seed in the AFC Playoff picture.
After their 40-14 victory over division rival Jets, the Buffalos’ head coach Sean McDermott has suggested that it’s time for a Josh Allen MVP award. “I think there’s a saying about stats, right? At the end of the day, Josh Allen is the MVP,” said McDermott to interviewers following Sunday’s match.
“I’ve been around this league long enough to know, to see MVPs every year for many years, and what he has done on this team and this organization, in this community – and no offense to anybody else – but I have a hard time believing that someone’s done more,” added McDermott.
Josh Allen Stars AGAIN for the Buffalos
Allen completed 16 of 27 passes for 182 passing yards and two touchdowns in the Bills' 13th win, registering impressive numbers like this that will likely linger on in fans’’ memory. He also ran for 17 yards on the ground before adding a rushing touchdown. By locking themselves into the No. 2 seed, the Bills' have turned their Week 18 game against the Patriots practically meaningless.
When an interviewer asked Allen about the possibility of resting next weekend ahead of the postseason, the quarterback said, ‘‘Not sure what next week brings, but it gives us an option to get certain guys to rest. And we'll just kind of go with the flow with whatever [Brandon] Beane or McDermott are telling our guys to do.’’ However, Allen adds his team isn't leaving any room for lapses. ‘‘But [we] still got to prepare like we're trying to go 1-0, and that's our game plan.’’
Suppose Allen’s season is already over, he’ll end it with 3,731 passing yards, 28 passing touchdowns, and 11 rushing touchdowns. Thanks to these stats and more, all major predictions continue to predict Josh Allen as a top favorite for the award.
Sunday's match also saw the quarterback register one TD rush and two TD passes to emerge as the first player in NFL history to total at least 40 touchdowns in five consecutive seasons. He has also been an MVP finalist thrice, without ever clinching the award.
Conclusion
Despite his relatively stellar figures, McDermott thinks that the digits don’t demonstrate Allen’s complete value. However, whether the numbers – and everything else in between – will suffice to help Allen beat out the likes of Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, and Saquon Barkley in the NFL MVP race is a question time will most definitely answer.
