With DeAndre Hopkins’ contract ending soon, the Dallas Cowboys are expected to make a trade for the wide receiver but there is a twist.

The Dallas Cowboys have enjoyed a bit of a turbulent season, especially at the wide receiver wing. This is because they had already traded Amari Cooper to their rivals last season and consequently failed to get a replacement on time, despite the efforts of CeeDee Lamb. This means the Cowboys would need to secure a wide receiver if they finish well this season. But while many players have been linked to them, only a few seem like deals that could materialize into reality. And one such player is DeAndre Hopkins, who will be out of contract with the Arizona Cardinals soon.

While it is believed that DeAndre Hopkins is the ideal player for the Cowboys because he has been prolific for the Cardinals and has also expressed his desire to play for the Dallas-based team, NFL Network's Jane Slater recently revealed that despite the links, the Cowboys had not made any contacts with the Cardinals concerning a potential trade for DeAndre Hopkins. But this wouldn't shock fans, as there have also been reports that the Cowboys are planning a trade for 30-year-old Brandin Cooks.

Jane Slater confirmed that “she had reached out to contacts in the Cowboys team, but they made no mention of any potential trades for Hopkins”.

Adding to that, she also said that the Cowboys could be looking to swoop in for him after the NFL Drafts so that they could ascertain their position and also see if the Cardinals’ price tag for D-Hop would be reduced.

Hopkins has already made a name for himself since his first season for the Cardinals in 2020, with 115 receptions and six touchdowns on 160 targets through 16 games. So although he has missed out on some games in the last two seasons due to injuries and drug-law suspensions, Cowboy fans are still optimistic about the quality he could bring to the team.

This season he already has 3 touchdowns and has caught 64 out of 92 targets, and he looks as prim as any other wide receiver they could get.
