When Red Bull unveiled their title-defending car for Formula 1 in February 2023, it also announced a significant new engine partnership with Ford from 2026, aiming to follow up double title success this season.
It has been advised to billionaires who are interested in purchasing a Formula 1 team to be aware of the costs involved. Forbes, the American business magazine, has calculated the actual values of all the Formula 1 teams.
It is true that Red Bull currently has a huge lead in the constructors' championship; however, it has failed to make it to the top of the Forbes review list. The energy drink manufacturer's racing team came third on the list, worth $2.6 billion while Mercedes, which ranked up to win the constructors' championship from 2014 to 2021, beats the Austrians with a whopping $3.8 billion.
Red Bull are no strangers to Formula 1 as they were already sponsors before their formal entrance as a works team in 2004. But the scale of their success over the following decade was startling. After a first podium in 2006, the team hit a stride in 2009, gloriously winning six victories and being second in the constructors' standings. However, its rating seems to have gone down.
Ferrari The New Deal
Forbes reports that Ferrari has become the ultimate money champion in Formula 1, having competed in the series since its first season in 1950 and becoming synonymous with the sport.
Although the Italians may not have performed as well, in terms of sport, there are no financial worries. The Ferrari racing team, based in Maranello, has an estimated value of $3.9 billion, slightly surpassing the German team Mercedes. McLaren, valued at $2.2 billion, came in fourth among the larger teams, which is quite impressive.
To the billionaire reading this, a Formula 1 team is not such a crazy investment. According to Forbes' gross, Ferrari's estimated profit for 2023 is $680 million. Mercedes is also allowed some extra flavor on its cake. The Germans would pocket a whopping amount of $700 million gross over 2023. And over half a billion gross will be collected with an estimated profit of $510 million at Red Bull too.
According to the news, the Williams team is also making big profits as the British racing team, with an estimated value of almost $725 million, is said to be making a gross profit of $160 million this year.
